Fears, phobias & nerves

Hypnotherapy for fears and phobias

When a fear starts deciding where you go and what you do, it's time to take your life back.

Fears and phobias are learned responses, often formed in a single moment, that the subconscious keeps repeating to protect you. With hypnotherapy I help the mind relearn a calm response, so you can face flying, travel, medical procedures and other triggers with far less anxiety.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Fear of flying or travelling
  • Dread of medical or dental procedures and needles
  • Phobias of animals, heights, lifts or enclosed spaces
  • Fear of driving or public speaking
  • Panic that feels out of proportion and hard to explain

How I can help

A phobia is your mind's alarm system going off at the wrong moment. It usually began with a single frightening experience, sometimes one you barely remember, and the subconscious has been protecting you ever since.

In hypnosis we can calm that alarm. We find where it started, release the fear attached to it, and rehearse the situation calmly until your body learns a new response. One client who had always been gripped by fear of medical procedures had three sessions over three weeks and went into an important procedure with far less anxiety and much more control.

What can change

  • Booking the trip, the appointment or the flight

  • Staying calm in the moment

  • A body that no longer floods with panic

  • Freedom to live without planning around fear

I had always felt gripped with fear when faced with even the smallest medical or dental procedure. We had three sessions over three weeks. I was able to have the procedure three weeks later with far less anxiety and more control over my fight or flight behaviour.

Questions people ask

How many sessions does a phobia take?

Specific fears often respond in one to three sessions. More complex or long-standing fears may need a few more.

Can you help with fear of the dentist or medical procedures?

Yes. It's something I help with regularly. We prepare for the specific appointment so you can go in calmer and more in control.

Can phobias be treated online?

Yes. Online sessions work well for fears and phobias, and you can practise feeling calm in your own space.
